Meet Lachlan Soper
Dr. Lachlan Soper is a Sydney-based general practitioner, father of three, and lifelong cycling enthusiast. Whether treating patients in his practice or exploring the outdoors with his children, he is passionate about living an active, purposeful life.
Lachlan’s love for cycling began in childhood, when he would spend hours riding borrowed bikes through his local neighborhood, drawn to the sense of freedom and adventure. Today, that same passion fuels his regular rides — typically three to five times per week — covering nearly 10,000 kilometers annually. His cycling adventures have taken him across Australia, from the Victorian Alps and the New South Wales Snowy Mountains to completing the Melbourne-to-Sydney ride twice. He also participates in charity rides, combining his love for the sport with giving back to the community.
As a father, Lachlan sees cycling as more than just exercise — it’s a way to share quality time with his children while fostering their love for the outdoors. His three kids, aged 6, 8, and 10, are active and adventurous, enjoying everything from cycling and tennis to trampoline flips and swimming. Together, they explore Sydney’s picturesque bike paths, with routes centered around the city’s waterways, beaches, and scenic parklands. Lachlan’s website serves as a guide for other families looking to experience the joy of cycling together, offering safe, family-friendly routes with stunning views, playgrounds, and rest stops.
Beyond his passion for cycling and family, Lachlan is a highly experienced general practitioner currently practicing at Avenue Road Medical Practice. Since earning his medical degree in 2000 and his FRACGP in 2006, he has worked in various settings, including emergency medicine, general practice, and pediatrics in rural hospitals. He finds deep fulfillment in caring for patients of all ages and takes pride in the trust that comes with being a family’s long-term GP.
